Bakers Chocolate Warning

Our coach, Barbara, found an issue with bakers chocolate which is on the King Diet. She writes,

"My feet were getting so much better and my feet turned kind of reddish purplish. I had a sneaking suspicion that the chocolate, that I had just  started eating, was the culprit.  So I called my naturopathic doctor. She’s a functional medicine person and a researcher. She researches foods and where things come from. I trust her implicitly she is the one that told me it had mycotoxins in it. I actually think she takes things to the labs and breaks them down, but I’m not absolutely sure about that.

Walmart sells a chocolate bar that is organic unsweetened called MILLCITY organic chocolate for around $2.50. Since I’ve used it, I've not seen problems except maybe a little bit of crawlies but it didn’t affect me fungal."

I thank Barbara for informing me of the mycotoxin issue with Baker's chocolate. According to Wikipedia, "A mycotoxin is a toxic secondary metabolite produced by organisms of the fungus kingdom and is capable of causing disease and death in both humans and other animals. The term 'mycotoxin' is usually reserved for the toxic chemical products produced by fungi that readily colonize crops."

Fungi and mycotoxins are things it's best to avoid and certainly would be a problem for the King Diet™. It makes sense to go organic whenever you can.
